Many indexes to records have been published on microfilm or on the Web. Original records (up to 1916) are at the National Archives (NARA) unless otherwise listed. Note: NARA uses the prefix “M” for microfilmed sets of records.

    http://www.DigitalCambria.com has a searchable index to NARA M881 compiled Service Records for those who served in the Revolutionary War from Pennsylvania. You can even obtain copies of the records for a lot less than the NARA charges and receive them within a day or 2.
